What You’ll Do:
Travel. This position will oversee projects throughout all of our Alabama locations, and could travel out of state occasionally.
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and are in total compliance with all Vulcan policies and procedures.
Implement Solutions. Responsible for consulting with Plant Managers on issues/projects and create solutions. Must be able to handle the project from start to finish. Overseeing the fabrication work and the installation.
Manage Employee Relations. Provide strong leadership, training, team building and supervision to all of the Field and Shop Crews. Develop teamwork among employees while upholding Company guidelines, policies, and procedures, as well as maintaining morale across all department levels.
Determine Work Procedure. Determine work procedures, interpret complex blueprints, complete assigned tasks and delegate duties to personnel concerned with welding on mobile and stationary equipment, as well as maintenance of equipment.
Weld Materials. Weld materials in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. Select rod and weld type and welder setting. Cut materials using air arcs, burning rods, and acetylene/oxygen cutting torches to fit fabrication and job requirements. Perform welding repair and maintenance to stational production related equipment, machinery, and structures such as conveyors, crushers, elevators, drives, and screws.
Inspect Equipment and Perform Repairs. Assist and organize the work of employees in the daily inspection and maintenance of the facility to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions. Maintain the general appearance and security of grounds, buildings, equipment, and machinery.
Maintain Compliance. Ensure environmental and safety policy compliance in all activities at the facility, including outside contractors. Immediately take appropriate steps to correct any conditions of non-compliance.
Qualifications - External
Skills You’ll Need:
Experience. Prior experience in industrial welding in a leadership capacity is preferred. Experience with Autocad is a plus. Knowledge of general principles and practices of aggregate production is preferred.
Leadership and Management Skills. Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
Problem-Solving Skills. Must have the ability to work independently and problem-solve while working alone or as part of a team.
Flexibility. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. Must be willing to work a rotating schedule with varying shifts. Must be willing to work overtime based on business conditions.
