Summary:
Under the supervision of the Benefits Administrator, the Benefits Associate assists with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability programs, and 401(k) plans. The ideal candidate must have a robust understanding of benefit regulatory requirements. Must have a good working knowledge of commonly used concepts and procedures within an HR/ Benefits office and proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel. This role is expected to understand and meet expectations in a "culture of service" organization and incorporate those skills and abilities into the day-to-day responsibilities of this role. This position has no supervisory duties and will collaborate closely with all members of our HR team.
Job Responsibilities:
New Hire Process
Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the ADP/Empyrean systems and collaborates with vendors to ensure accurate eligibility information.
- Conducts new hire orientation and collects beneficiary enrollments on a bi-weekly basis.
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
- Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from employees regarding plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
- Monitors file interfaces for medical, dental, and vision enrollments in the ADP system.
- Run pre-& post benefits deductions reports to ensure accuracy of all benefits.
Healthcare Insurance
- Assist with the annual open enrollment process.
- Process/Monitor terminations of all benefits selections; enter in 3rd party (BRI) website.
- Run termination reports to ensure all benefits changes are processed on a timely basis.
- Reconciles weekly UHC/Surest Funding invoices.
- Benefits terminations data upload
401k Retirement Plan Administration
- Responds to 401(k) employee inquiries about plan enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment and loan entry.
- Process 401(k) entries for employer contributions and employee deferrals.
- Submit bi-weekly 401k total controls in the plan sponsor site.
Other
- Assists the Benefits Administrator with Service Corp's annual Flu shot campaign.
- Assist with the administration of the Service Corps Wellness Program.
- Assists with special projects as management requests.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
An associate’s degree in HR or a related field, experience, and other training/certification may be substituted for education.
Two years’ experience in benefits administration.
Minimum Experience:
- Prior experience working in a professional office environment.
Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is required. Prior experience using an LMS a plus.
- Excellent speaking voice and people skills
- Ability to compose routine correspondence.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must be comfortable with public speaking and facilitating training.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Work Remotely:
- Hybrid (one day remote per week after 90 days of employment)
