This role provides the opportunity for an experienced logistics leader to do all kinds of cool logistics things.
Job Summary: The Logistics Manager is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts with carriers and logistics providers to ensure cost-effective and timely transportation of goods inbound and outbound. This role involves analyzing freight needs, securing competitive rates, and managing relationships with both external vendors, Internal coordinators, and third-party freight brokers to optimize the company's supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and select freight carriers based on company needs and cost efficiency.
- Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers and logistics service providers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements in all freight transactions.
- Analyze freight costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Implement strategies to optimize freight spend while maintaining service quality.
- Track and report on freight expenditures and savings.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., supply chain, warehouse, and inventory management) to align freight operations with business needs.
- Manage the scheduling and coordination of shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure all documentation for freight transactions is accurate and complete.
- Maintain ERP information and TMS implementation.
- Monitor market trends and freight rates to anticipate changes and adjust fulfilment lanes as needed
- Prepare regular reports on freight performance, cost savings, and vendor performance.
Skills:
· Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
· Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
· 5 years of experience in all aspects of logistics
· 3-5 years of experience with progressive experience managing freight vendors
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, or supply chain; significant work experience may substitute for education.
· Proven success in working with Ocean Freight, Drayage, Road, and Rail carriers.
· Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of products
· ERP and TMS experience required
Compensation and Benefits:
We pay a competitive base salary and you’ll be eligible for a quarterly performance bonus (that’s a bonus 4 x a year)! We offer medical, dental and vision plans. Plus we provide both short-term and long-term disability insurance and life insurance at no cost to our team members. We grant 3 weeks of vacation every year along with a couple of personal days. And, we provide 12 paid holidays (yep 12!).
Candidate Geography: We are looking for local candidates or candidates already in the processing of moving to the Tampa – St. Pete area.
