Job Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for partnering with cross-functional project teams to develop and maintain project plans, charts/timelines, status reports, and strategic development and filing plans. The role oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing oncology drug development projects and acts as a liaison between project teams and executive management, ensuring smooth communication and efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly manage multiple clinical development projects, providing direction and support to Development Team Leaders (DTLs), Clinical Development Leads (CDLs), Franchise Team Leaders (FTLs), and project teams.
- Collaborate with DTLs/FTLs to develop and gain approval for project strategies, driving execution through the creation and implementation of high-quality, integrated cross-functional project plans.
- Identify project risks and challenges, develop mitigation strategies, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions to achieve strategic goals.
- Co-chair project team meetings, prepare high-quality minutes, and ensure clear communication of program information to team members, stakeholders, and external partners, including consultants and CROs.
- Facilitate team discussions to set concise program goals, measure progress against milestones, and provide options and recommendations to maintain project timelines.
- Support DTLs and CDLs in presenting project updates to senior management, acting as a communication link between teams, development functions, and management in a matrixed organization.
- Ensure robustness of project plans and documentation and contribute to department initiatives focused on implementing best practices.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- BS/BA degree in a related discipline with 13+ years of experience, MS/MA degree with 11+ years of experience, or PhD with 8+ years of experience in a related field.
- PMP or equivalent certification is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience managing cross-functional development-stage projects in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience in oncology projects and/or biologics development is highly desirable.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Extensive understanding of the drug development process, particularly in oncology.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey scientific and business elements related to project management.
- Self-motivated, adaptable to fast-paced environments, and capable of adjusting to changing priorities.
- Exceptional collaboration, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to drive results without formal authority.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- High proficiency in MS Office Suite, Planisware, MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar project management tools.
