GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
To install, dismantle, maintain, set up and adjust machinery, mechanical service equipment, including ventilating, heating systems, building repairs, all types of pipelines, fittings and hydraulics as required for new construction or maintenance. To analyze and correct electrical problems. Repair and overhaul electrical equipment and controls.
CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on equipment. Plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service or replace electronic devices and systems.
- Performs varied mechanical, electrical, plumbing duties. Dismantling, moving, repairing and installing equipment.
- Installs or troubleshoot equipment from blueprints or schematics.
- Makes preventive maintenance checks on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment. Works with Management to schedule upgrades or repairs. Test all equipment after repairs or adjustments.
- All start-ups and shut downs of equipment shall be in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and with OSHA requirements.
- Advise and caution operators and supervisors about potential problems and inherent dangers. Use proper lock out tag out methods when perform maintenance on equipment.
- On call 24 hours 7 days a week to handle break down and repairs.
- Must be able to work overtime with little notice.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Any and all duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of at least a high school diploma or GED is required and a post-secondary degree is preferred. Vocational school or technical training in electrical, industrial electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, HVAC, welding is preferred. Valid state motor vehicle license to operate company vehicles truck, tow motors. Ability to read specifications, schematics and manuals. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear). Analytical skills and attention to detail. Teamwork and good communication skills. Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers. Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals. Must work effectively with diverse types of people. Must possess verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work overtime and flexible schedule/shifts. Maintains a positive attitude and contributes to a positive work environment. Experience operating a dolly, shrink-wrap machine, pallet jack, forklift and other equipment. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to be on call, work extended shifts, and work on weekend shifts is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the staff, account representatives, company representatives, management, customers, and the public in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to use a telephone for communication. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Sit, walk, stand and/or kneel for extended time periods. Employee will be standing and moving for the entire shift. The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, sit, and stand for long periods of time. Ability to climb, traverse and maneuver on equipment and/or ladders while adhering to fall protection requirements as necessary. Able to climb and descend stairs numerous times in a shift. Ability to climb, rig, stoop, crouch and bend. Carry, push, pull, reach and lift up to 50 lbs. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents. Must wear all required personal protective equipment in designated areas and use necessary care to avoid placing self and others in an unsafe environment. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Physical ability to operate dolly, shrink-wrap machine, pallet jack, and/or forklift and all other equipment utilized in this position. Tolerate inclement weather, including heat and cold. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents.
