Summary: The Golden Apple Foundation is seeking a Manager of Scholar Institute to support the planning and execution of Scholar Institute. Scholar Institute is a multi-week professional development conference for preservice teachers, Golden Apple Scholars. The Manager of Scholar Institute will work with Golden Apple staff and contractors to support the implementation of professional development and summer teaching experiences for Scholars across the state.
Reports to: Michigan, Chief Program Officer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Design and Management
- Communicate timelines, assignments, and expectations with various stakeholders about Scholar Institute events.
- Manage Scholar Institute placements and attendance.
- Organize and maintain accurate records for Scholar Institute.
- Collect and assess data regarding scholar performance at the conclusion of Scholar Institute.
- Debrief Scholar Institute individual performance with the Manager of Undergraduate Supports and Scholars demonstrating growth areas and facilitating transition plans with the Undergraduate Scholar Support Manager.
- Train Scholars on engaging with schools and districts as pre-service teachers.
- Travel to Scholar Institutes to support Scholar Institute staff and Scholars.
- Engage district leaders to assess their offerings and needs to establish and maintain Summer Teaching Experience opportunities (Scholars working in K-12 schools).
- Work with K-12 partners, Scholars, and other Golden Apple team members to assign teaching placements for Summer Teaching Experiences.
- Assist in developing and refining Scholar Institute curriculum.
- Deliver professional development to Scholars and Scholar Institute Staff.
- Assist in managing Scholar Institute instructors; providing instructors with feedback after their sessions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Program Officer and/or the Senior Leadership team.
Logistics + Operations
- Regulate ordering and distribution of supplies for Scholar Institute Staff at Scholar Institute.
- Collaborate on instructional schedule for Scholar Institute.
- Facilitate event management by inputting Scholar Institute schedules within an online. platform
- Coordinate logistics surrounding Scholar Institutes with universities and transportation.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Education; specialization or experience with curriculum development
- Classroom teaching experience.
- Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity of information.
- Ability to engage in strategic planning and process improvement.
- Possesses strong organization and project management skills, and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously (i.e., leadership, scheduling, critical thinking, and communication).
- Attention to detail.
- Entrepreneurial attitude including a drive for results and proven ability to stay focused on goals; ability to prioritize competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with external partners.
- Ability to present and disseminate information to various audiences.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, quick-turnaround environment.
- Strong computer and Internet proficiency, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, and database applications.
- Willingness to learn and evolve.
- Must be a Michigan resident.
