OCI Nitrogen Iowa is looking for an experienced Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer to join our Asset Integrity team in Wever, Iowa.This individual will be responsible for rotating equipment reliability efforts at the site. This individual will manage condition monitoring, RCAs, build equipment strategies like FMEAs, and support management of change. The individual will seek to achieve early identification of issues and trends of failures and provide recommendations for repair and improvements. This individual should have a strong mechanical engineering background, experience with rotating equipment and experience working in chemical facilities.
Your scope of responsibility
- Monitor the condition of rotating equipment and report on findings
- Ensure corrective actions are taking place based on equipment condition
- Facilitate root cause analysis, using various methods.
- Develop Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) for equipment.
- Determine Bad Actors and develop action plans to correct them.
- Use data analysis techniques, including statistical process control, reliability modeling and prediction.
- Improve reliability programs and introduce additional programs and tools.
- Tracking key performance indicators, like mean time between failure
- Mentor reliability technicians for vibration and lubrication programs
- Support operations in troubleshooting
- Support maintenance in repairs
- Optimize preventative maintenance (PM) plans.
- Identify critical spare parts needed.
- Manage vendor and manufacturer support for repairs and troubleshooting
- Ownership of potential business interruption corrective actions.
- Assist in developing turnaround scope.
- Perform reviews and approvals for Management of Change (MOC).
- Update documentation for changes made.
- Prepare written reports and communicate to all levels of the organization
- All other duties as assigned.
What you bring to OCI
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another technical field.
Experience and Skills
- 5+ years’ engineering experience in the chemical industry or refining environment. Fertilizer manufacturing experience is a plus.
- CMRP Certification or similar certification is desired
- Experience and understanding of equipment design and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of root cause analysis and experience facilitating the process
- Knowledge of the general operation and function of fixed and rotating equipment used in the fertilizer industry.
- Proven track record of implementing improvements and meaningful KPI’s.
- Understanding of ASME and API standards as it relates to equipment repairs and design
- Strong adherence and knowledge of industry safety standards. Active participation in ongoing development of safety improvement plans and training of staff.
- Proven ability to function within a team, prioritizing/delegating work, driving productivity, setting the right expectation, and proactively overcoming obstacles.
- Patience and positive attitude maintained when interacting with managers, co-workers, staff, production employees, contractors, suppliers, customers, and community organizations.
- Excellent time management skills. Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize work to meet targets and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
- SAP and PCMS knowledge is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
- Wearing industrial chemical plant uniforms and PPE as required.
- Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
- Noise levels may require hearing protection.
