Job Summary Sr. Software Design Engineer POWER CONVERSION EXPERIENCE
ST PETERSBURG, FL $70-$80 hour
The Senior Software Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing embedded software for power electronics systems, particularly in embedded systems and real-time control applications.The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong background in embedded software and firmware development for industrial and power products such as HMI controls, DC chargers, and energy storage systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate embedded software and firmware for power electronics applications, including real-time control, power conversion, and motor control systems.
- Develop, debug, and optimize software for embedded systems using C/C++ and other relevant programming languages.
- Work on DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and microcontroller programming, embedded system integration, and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, SPI, UART).
- Collaborate with system architects, hardware engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and innovative software solutions that meet all technical and customer requirements.
- Manage the software development lifecycle, including design documentation, software testing, and functional verification.
- Contribute to technology roadmaps and software architecture, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Address and resolve complex technical challenges in embedded software while maintaining a focus on quality and efficiency.
Job Qualifications
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Extensive experience in embedded software development for power electronics or similar systems.
- Hands-on experience with real-time embedded systems and firmware development for microcontrollers, including DSPs such as TI C2000, Microchip, and NXP.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming and embedded software development tools.
- Experience with embedded operating systems (e.g., FreeRTOS, embedded Linux) and low-level hardware interface development, including kernel development, driver integration.
- Familiarity with power control algorithms, digital power topologies, and power electronics industry standards is plus.
- Experience with communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) and debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, logic analyzers).
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (BSEE/MSEE or equivalent experience).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development with a focus on power electronics or embedded systems.
