POSITION SUMMARY
As a Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. You will collaborate with management and staff to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions. Additionally, you will provide safety training, conduct inspections, and investigate accidents or incidents to prevent recurrence. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with management and employees to assess risks and develop strategies for hazard prevention and control.
- Provide safety training for new employees and ongoing training for existing staff on topics such as proper lifting techniques, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident investigations, and prepare reports for management as required.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives and recommend improvements as needed.
- Stay current with industry best practices, regulations, and emerging trends in occupational health and safety.
- Coordinate with external agencies, such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), on matters related to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding safety-related concerns, questions, or issues and encourage a proactive approach to safety.
