Technical Source is seeking an experienced Automation Specialist to join our team in Durham, NC. This role is integral to the operation and maintenance of water treatment equipment, ensuring reliability and efficiency in all processes.
Responsibilities of the Automation Specialist include:
- Instrumentation Setup: Configure and integrate instrumentation with control panels to ensure seamless communication.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues, maintaining the efficiency of water purification systems.
- Electrical Design and Programming: Develop and interpret electrical schematics using AutoCAD, design HMI interfaces, and program Allen Bradley PLCs, drive systems, and HMIs.
- System Installation and Validation: Perform electrical and mechanical work related to water systems, install and program VFDs, and conduct validation testing with comprehensive documentation.
- Training and Documentation: Provide end-user training on controllers and software, create detailed documentation for electrical power distribution, and control panel layouts, and ensure compliance with GMP safety and sanitation standards.
- Field Modifications and Start-up: Implement field modifications during system start-up to guarantee optimal performance, adhering to all regulatory documentation requirements.
- Travel: Some travel to job sites is required to support system installations and troubleshooting.
Qualifications of the Automation Specialist include:
- Educational Background: Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology is preferred.
- Experience and Skills: Hands-on experience in mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work, with strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and manage tasks with attention to detail.
- Technical Competence: Proficiency in programming, electrical troubleshooting, and creating electrical schematics. Experience with AutoCAD and Allen Bradley systems is essential.
- Compliance and Safety: Understanding of GMP regulations, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of compliance and safety.
- Travel and Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean record, and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
