As an Oracle Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of Oracle databases. You will work closely with other IT professionals to ensure the databases are operating efficiently, securely, and in alignment with the company's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database systems and related tools. Perform regular database backups, recovery, and restore operations.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize complex SQL queries by reviewing and interpreting various explain plans. Adjust SQLs, indexing, and database configuration settings to enhance database performance.
- Issue Resolution: Resolve database-related issues promptly to minimize application downtime. Troubleshoot and address performance problems, connectivity issues, and data corruption.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with Application teams and L2/L3 DBA support to solve complex problems and optimize application performance.
- Security Management: Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, data encryption, and auditing.
- Patch Management: Apply patches and upgrades to database software as needed, and coordinate downtime and impact assessments with relevant stakeholders.
- Backup and Recovery: Design and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Compliance: Ensure databases comply with industry regulations and organizational policies, including data protection laws and standards.
- Communication: Exhibit good communication skills with a positive and collaborative attitude to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with a strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, PL/SQL, and SQL.
Certifications: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Oracle Database 12c, 19c, or later versions. Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM is a plus.
Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex database issues and optimize SQL performance.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders and maintain a positive attitude.
Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in managing database environments.
