We are a leading construction firm specializing in design build, government construction projects. With a track record of delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget, we are committed to excellence and innovation in every aspect of our work. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Estimator to join our team and play a pivotal role in the success of our projects.
Position Overview:
As an Estimator at SEG, you will be responsible for accurately developing bids and estimating the costs and resources required for construction projects from conception to completion. You will work closely with our project management, engineering, and procurement teams to analyze project specifications, identify potential risks and opportunities, and prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs, material pricing, and labor cost analysis to prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop project budgets and schedules that align with client expectations and company objectives.
- Identify and mitigate potential cost risks and opportunities through value engineering, alternative materials, and construction methods.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of costs, scope of work, and contractual terms and conditions.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements and conditions.
- Support project teams during the procurement and subcontracting process, including bid evaluation, vendor selection, and contract negotiations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in design build and/or government projects.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Planswift) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Familiarity with construction contracts, regulations, and industry standards.
