You will need at least 8 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and a deep understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle. This position requires a proactive individual with strong case management and organizational skills who can move tasks forward with limited oversight.
Responsibilities include performing a broad range of substantive paralegal tasks, working directly with attorneys on complex commercial and business litigation, and other complex business disputes across various industries. You will maintain and monitor court deadlines, take ownership of case calendars, electronically file documents through the ECF system or local State Court sites, perform online PACER research, and prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions. Trial experience is preferred.
Qualifications:
A 2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate are preferred, though relevant work experience may be substituted for education. The ability to conduct research using various tools, including the Internet and Westlaw, is essential. Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs is also required.
