Seeking a qualified Comprehensive/ Community Planner to join a leading multi-disciplined engineering firm in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
This role will oversee the development of research and analysis on planning tasks; oversee and assist with the development of planning documents; plan and lead public engagement opportunities; and generally, be responsible for the execution of planning projects at the direction of the Project Manager. The Community Planner will oversee, train, and assist junior staff with assigned tasks and will act as a mentor during these opportunities. Depending on experience and skill level the Community Planner may also assist with developing the project approach, methodology, communication plan, and labor pool allocation needed to execute the project as well as provide direction to junior staff for the planning of public engagement opportunities; and generally, be responsible for the execution of planning projects at the direction of the Project Manager.
Qualifications Include
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Planning, Public Policy, Administration, or similar field is required.
- Master’s degree in Community Planning, Public Policy, Administration, or similar field, preferred.
- 5-10 years of planning experience and with positions that show an increase in responsibilities over time.
- AICP accreditation, preferred.
- Specialized experience in various areas including economic development, historic preservation, transportation, plan review, code analysis/writing, housing, community development, downtown redevelopment, grant writing, GIS, urban design, statistics, environment, climate change, floodplain, landscape/architecture, 3D design/modeling, graphic design/document layout.
- Familiarity with the PLUS process preferred.
