Unite Private Networks (UPN) is searching for a dynamic and experienced Construction Technician/Field Service Engineer to work within our Denver, CO market.
The Construction Technician/Field Service Engineer will oversee the construction activities that take place on the worksite and will be primarily responsible for the supervision of construction contractors in the field. The CT/FSE will plan, implement, and oversee construction efforts at several work sites within their designated market. The CT/FSE will assist in the day-to-day activities of the network, including but not limited to equipment installation, circuit/node turn-up & testing, customer premise equipment, (Ethernet Network Interface Devices, Routers, Data Switches, premise Firewalls, IAD’s, Hosted phones, ONT’s, preventive maintenance, and testing/troubleshooting.
The Construction Technician/Field Service Engineer will report on field progress to the Construction Manager and/or Project Manager to ensure all projects are completed within the parameters set forth in the estimated timeline. The CT/FSE will interact with internal and external customers, service technicians, technical support personnel and other telecom professionals.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of Telecommunications experience.
- Minimum of 1 year working with data or Telecom equipment (ex.- Cisco, Ciena, etc.).
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledgeable with DC power to support tertiary power applications.
- Good planning and organization skills to balance and prioritize work.
- Some travel will be expected, both overnight and daily travel
- Basic experience using Microsoft Excel formulations, Word, Outlook.
- Structured cabling experience.
- Cisco and/or Ciena equipment experience preferred.
- AC/DC core fundamentals; good driving record; Office 365 suite.
- Understanding and use of engineering documents.
- Able to understand and operate advanced industry test sets, DS1-100G, OTDR and fiber scopes.
- Work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to effectively lead a crew to the completion of and in conformance with schedule, customer requirements and budget guidelines.
- Excellent understanding of construction, engineering, and permitting prints.
- Assist in monitoring and reporting inventory/material usage during construction cycle.
- Assist with the identification and troubleshooting of construction problems and offer timely and safe solutions.
