The Production Planner will collaborate with our production facilities team to manage long-term planning of inventory and production levels, oversee daily scheduling for production and shipping, and expedite activities to ensure customer satisfaction. This role involves coordinating efforts with customer service and site personnel to meet all customer requirements effectively.
**Key Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Develop and maintain production schedules that align with customer demand and enhance operational efficiency.
- Partner closely with production facilities and the centralized planning team to ensure production plans support overall company objectives.
- **Inventory Management:**
- Implement and execute inventory strategies to maintain optimal levels, balancing customer service goals with cost efficiency.
- Monitor and manage inventory days on hand, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Address and resolve any system errors from production that may cause shipment delays in a timely manner.
- **Customer Service:**
- Ensure on-time service levels exceed 95% through effective production planning and coordination.
- Respond promptly to any customer-related concerns or inquiries.
- Communicate clearly with plants and customer service teams to provide accurate order information.
- **Capacity and Storage Management:**
- Optimize production capacity utilization while considering storage limitations.
- Work with operations to identify and address capacity challenges proactively.
- **Communication and Collaboration:**
- Maintain regular communication with operations, customer support, warehousing, purchasing departments, and on-site teams to ensure smooth production operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address scheduling issues and implement corrective actions.
- **System Data Management:**
- Utilize and maintain ERP planning systems, with a preference for SAP experience, to ensure accurate and up-to-date production data.
- Drive improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of data management processes.
- **Lean Six Sigma:**
- Apply Lean Six Sigma principles to identify and implement process improvements within production planning and inventory management.
**Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:**
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in production planning or a related role within the supply chain.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and experience with ERP planning systems, particularly SAP.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to navigate a complex and dynamic environment.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
