Facilities Maintenance Technician
Springfield, VA (onsite)
14+Month Contract
Overview:
This role involves driving to support facilities maintenance in Springfield, VA, and surrounding areas, utilizing a company vehicle.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory of supplies and small tools.
- Perform basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks; conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.
- Operate Building Management Systems (BMS) for comfort adjustments.
- Plan and relocate furniture and office equipment for events.
- Solicit vendor cost estimates and review invoices for accuracy.
- Respond to emergency calls and evaluate damages.
- Conduct routine inspections and address safety matters.
- Perform minor landscaping and janitorial duties.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, and mail delivery.
- Execute ergonomic modifications to furniture/equipment.
- Lead facilities maintenance operations and manage service ticket requests.
- Undertake special projects as assigned, including quarterly inspections.
Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED; 2+ years in facilities operations.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Basic math skills; ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams.
- Must possess a forklift operator’s certificate.
- Knowledge of building systems and technology.
Preferred:
- AS/AA or Technical Certification in a related field.
- Experience in telecommunications and operating commercial HVAC systems.
- Certification in operating lifting equipment.
Environment and Working Conditions:
- Office and outdoor work; exposure to inclement weather.
- Requires physical tasks, including lifting up to 80 pounds and using ladders.
- Occasional travel for emergency responses day and night.
Performance Measures:
- Meet service ticket SLA 98% of the time.
Confidentiality:
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Tools and Equipment:
- Company vehicle, smartphone, computer, hand tools, and material carts.
Financial Accountability:
- Solicit maintenance proposals and verify vendor work orders.
