Position: Senior Test Engineer
Reports to: Sr Director of Systems Engineering
Location: Evansville, IN
Pay: up to $100,000
Our client is looking for a Senior Test Engineer to join the team! The Senior Test Engineer will conduct testing of electric machines including DC motors and generators, AC Induction and AC synchronous motors among the multiple test pads within the Evansville facility. This position will also maintain test pad equipment including PLC programs and drives for efficient delivery of machines through testing phase and validation.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct required tests of electric machines according to released test plan procedure from Design Engineering.
Document tests with test sheets provided from Design Store completed test sheets in proper location.
Create formal test reports according to customer specifications and provide to customer.
Maintain organization and operation/calibration of all testing instruments used on the test pads. Also includes mechanical components such as couplings, adaptors, bearing pedestals used for test purposes.
Maintain schedules of machines on each test pad using shared calendars.
Review new motor test plans and provide input as needed.
Provide feedback to proposal team on what tests can be performed within facility for competitive bidding of new electric machines.
Work with a power system up to 13.8 kV, 1700A AC drive, 3000A DC drive, and other components such as vacuum contactors, line reactors, high speed circuit breakers, resistor banks, etc.
Assist with troubleshooting machines on the test pad if results are not acceptable.
Ensure test pad procedures are followed and documented for safety.
Troubleshoot and update PLC programs to maintain test pad functionality.
Troubleshoot AC/DC drives.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
4 years' experience in testing instrumentation such as Yokogawa, Dragnetz, CT’s, PT’s, chart recorders, tachometers, torque transducer a plus
Experience troubleshooting & updating PLC programs
3 years' experience with AC and DC drives
Thoroughly understand the operation and limitation of testing equipment for each of the test pads
Detailed electrical circuit knowledge
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good organizational skills
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex instructions
Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures
Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to routine duties within set company standards
Evening and weekend work may be necessary to meet project schedules.
Occasional overnight travel may be required.
