Payroll Processor
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Processor to join our team. The Payroll Processor will be responsible for accurately processing payroll for multiple clients on weekly, biweekly and monthly schedules, in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll procedures, excellent numerical skills, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Working Conditions:
- This position typically operates in an office environment. Some work from home can be accommodated after a training period.
- Hours, This position can be a part time position or a full time position. The Payroll Processing can be completed with 4 to 6 hours each day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week. With additional time on the first week after the end of each quarter in April, July, October and January, Those weeks would be be 30 to 35 hours. If you want full time employment this can be achieved by doing bookkeeping/accounting for the remaining part of the week.
Responsibilities:
1. Process payroll for employees accurately and on time using payroll software or systems.
2. Calculate wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime accurately.
3. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and laws.
4. Address any payroll-related inquiries or concerns from employees in a timely and professional manner.
5. Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
6. Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues that arise.
7. Prepare and distribute payroll reports to clients as needed.
8. Quarterly 941,1028 preparation. Year-end payroll processes including W-2 and 1099 preparation.
9. Stay informed about changes in payroll regulations and best practices.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience in payroll processing or a similar role.
2. Proficiency with payroll software (Creative Solutions CS Payroll preferred) and MS Office, especially Excel.
3. Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
Certifications:
- Optional: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
