We are seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. This position focuses on developing AC/DC wiring diagrams and collaborating with senior engineers to design and layout PCBs for applications such as single-board computers, environmental controls, and LED sign/message systems. The ideal candidate will have strong embedded systems expertise and the ability to oversee product life cycles, providing customer support by redesigning and integrating alternative components or replacing end-of-life parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop AC and DC wiring diagrams for signage with precise Bill of Materials (BOM) part number specifications.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design and layout PCBs for various applications, including single-board computers, environmental controls, and LED signage systems.
- Oversee product life cycles, particularly redesigning to integrate alternative components or replace end-of-life parts, while providing customer support.
- Leverage expertise in PCB layout (Altium), embedded systems design, and serial communication protocols (RS232, RS485, Ethernet, SPI, I2C).
- Focus on design for testability and component selection for embedded systems and circuit design.
- Support product testing and validation, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
- Troubleshoot and debug new and existing products using lab equipment such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
Areas of Expertise:
- PCB layout using Altium.
- Real-time embedded system design.
- Microcontroller and SoC architectures.
- Serial communication protocols: RS232, RS485, Ethernet, SPI, I2C.
- Design for testability.
- Experience with embedded firmware and LabVIEW (a plus, but not required).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience with PCB design, layout, and/or test
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in embedded systems, microprocessors (e.g., ARM, PIC), and memory technologies (e.g., SRAM, DDR).
- Experience with schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout.
- Strong troubleshooting skills using lab equipment such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- Expertise in circuit and system design, with the ability to analyze and select appropriate components.
- Ability to write technical specifications and assist in developing functional specs, test documentation, and validation plans.
- Experience validating products against standards and industry requirements.
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with a flexible and collaborative approach.
