As part of the Network Engineering team within the Infrastructure and Operations department, the Network Engineer owns a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, security, quality, and scalability of the hybrid IT network infrastructure. As a subject matter expert, the Network Engineer will advise and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot network solutions that support teams and the organization’s operational and strategic objectives.
This a Remote Regional position, the ideal candidate will reside within the Central Ohio area.
Primary Responsibilities:
Network Design and Implementation:
- Plan, design, and implement complex network solutions to meet requirements, including remote branches, on-premises data centers, and cloud-based resources.
- Evaluate and recommend network hardware and software solutions.
Network Security:
- Implement and maintain network security measures to safeguard data, applications, and infrastructure.
- Monitor network traffic for security threats and response to incidents promptly.
Network Optimization:
- Continuously optimize network for performance and capacity to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Identify and resolve network bottlenecks and performance issues.
Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide multi-level support for network related issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to diagnose and resolve complex network problems.
Documentation:
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating processes.
Compliance and Best Practice:
- Ensure network infrastructure complies with industry best practices and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Stay current with emerging network technologies and recommend improvements accordingly.
Vendor Management:
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to procure and manage network related services and equipment.
- IT experience working in an enterprise environment and expertise with firewalls, WAFs, VPNs, switches, routers (physical and virtual), and cloud-networks.
- Design and implementation experience with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN.
- Network capacity planning and management of DHCP, DNS, IPAM, ITAM, logging and monitoring platforms.
- Experienced with load balancers, Azure ExpressRoutes, and Edge/WAN management.
- Working knowledge with IP routing protocols such as BPG and OSPF.
- Experience with network automation and infrastructure-as-code / scripting languages such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Familiar with cloud-hosted private Git repos such as Azure Repos and pull requests.
- Practical knowledge of modern encryption protocols, decryption, and inline inspection.
- Leverage user-id based policy management and additional NextGen firewall functions.
- Onboarding device support via policy managed platforms to grant varying levels of access, authentications, and 802.1x compliance.
Other Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure uninterrupted network and security services supporting all technology infrastructure.
- Implement updates, patches, and upgrades across various network hardware
- Manage layer 1 connectivity as appropriate
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology Management, Engineering, or other related area of study.
- Minimum of 5 years of infrastructure technical experience, with at least 3 years managing network infrastructure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in implementing leading-edge infrastructure technologies.
- Professional certifications within infrastructure-related areas, while not a minimum requirement, would be highly desirable.
