JOB DESCRIPTION
This position will be responsible for providing senior-level system administration and technical support for SCADA and Load Management Systems. Monitoring, maintaining, and improving system performance to ensure operability and ease of use. Analyzing load profiles and historical data to recommend load control strategies.

Demonstrated ability to compile, organize, analyze, and recognize load trends, recommending proper load management strategies.
Demonstrated knowledge of proper operating parameters within SCADA system; knowledge of system control and safety; knowledge of network connectivity and interaction of devices in a WAN/LAN environment, and ability to work in conjunction with local telecommunication companies; knowledge of Electrical Systems, Substations, and Telecommunication Systems, and other Computer Systems.
Desirable: ACS experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other related duties may be assigned. To perform this job successfully and effectively, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Administers maintains and programs Unix Operating System Servers using C, Perl, Java, shell, and Advanced Control Systems proprietary programming languages and Prism SCADA servers to facilitate corporate monitoring and control of all connected substations.
Develops new and modifies existing substation database and drawings.
Administers maintains and programs Oracle Database using self-developed Utility Data Model to pull and archive historical data from PRISM system and using SQL to generate reports from data.
Administers maintains and programs Windows 2000 workstations including updating software and securing stations and networks.
Collects and analyzes weather and load data and recommends load control strategies.
Monitors system performance and faults to assist in troubleshooting and restoration. Develops reports to analyze system performance.
Researches and recommends new technologies and implementation strategies.
Coordinates station testing with Technical Services Supervisor.
Troubleshoots and repairs any network failures on the SCADA network consisting of hubs, switches, routers, modems, telecommunications lease circuits, and fiber Ethernet.
Applies demonstrated senior-level technical expertise and leadership within the division to produce positive results through planning, communication, and administration of policies and programs.
Works continually towards self-development to stay current on SCADA, load management, and computer and system operations procedures and practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree in Computer Technology or a related field from an accredited institution is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from an accredited institution is preferred.
3-5 years of related experience and/or training are required.
Previous experience with SCADA and Load Management systems and computer programming methodologies is required.
Experience with Unix and Windows Operating Systems and their server and client-side software solutions preferred.
PROFESSIONAL RELATIONS
INTERNAL
Communicates within the department and with other departments regarding project coordination and planning. Share engineering studies, information, updates, projects and training.
Interacts with Accounting regarding procurement, specifications, inventories, invoicing and power plant issues. Works with IT group to acquire software and maintain it, as well as computer upgrades.
EXTERNAL
Maintain the highest level of quality customer service through various forms of communication, as well as proactive and professional relationships with customers within the business community and the general public. Acts as a liaison for vendors, marketing representatives, contractors, and consultants to discuss contracts, specifications, change orders, construction management, and invoice approvals, as applicable. Works with suppliers to coordinate system requirements for proper operation of equipment. Interacts with SCADA software provider regarding software applications, maintenance, and updates.
SHIFT (FIRST)
First – must be able and available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and other times outside of standard work hours to assist in service restoration, emergencies that may arise, and necessary business operations.
WORK LOCATION
The candidate will work onsite at 10323 Lomond Drive, Manassas, VA 20109.
This job is not virtual. On-site work at a data center and working from the designated office will be required. Travel to substations as requested
