In support of our client, an industry-leading Coil Manufacturer, we are currently seeking an Electrical Automation Engineer specializing in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) engineering to assist them on current and future projects. This is a full-time direct hire opportunity working in the Houston, TX plant.
The selected candidate will provide controls engineering services and support to the manufacturing and commercial operations through evaluation, analysis, design, supervision, upgrading, and installation of corporate facilities, equipment, controls, power distribution, and process systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation systems design, programming, and troubleshooting, with a focus on optimizing efficiency and reliability in manufacturing processes.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and implement automation systems and solutions for coil manufacturing processes, adhering to industry standards and project requirements.
- Design, develop, and implement automation systems and solutions for electric heating systems, adhering to industry standards and project requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation needs and opportunities, providing technical expertise and guidance to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
- Integrate multiple automation platforms into one network for data acquisition and control.
- Develop detailed specifications, control narratives, and functional descriptions for automation systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Design and configure electrical control systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and human-machine interfaces (HMIs), using appropriate software tools.
- Develop and implement control strategies, algorithms, and logic for automated processes, optimizing performance, reliability, and safety.
- Program and configure automation devices, sensors, and actuators to integrate seamlessly with control systems, ensuring accurate data acquisition and process control.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities, identifying and resolving technical issues and anomalies to ensure optimal system performance.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of automation equipment and systems, coordinating with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
- Stay updated with emerging automation technologies, trends, and industry standards, recommending and implementing innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in automation engineering, preferably within the industrial manufacturing or oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of automation systems, including PLCs, DCS, HMIs, and SCADA.
- Experience with Rockwell Studio5000, Factory Talk Historian and PlantPax.
- Experience setting up Process Control Networks.
- Preferred experience with AR and VR technologies.
