Hansel Law, P.C. is looking for an experienced litigation paralegal who has a great personality and works well in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate can multi-task, likes to have fun at work, is a self-starter, and can learn on the fly if needed. We are looking for a litigation paralegal that takes an ownership attitude in their work and is invested in civil justice reform.
Our team is currently comprised of 4 attorneys, 2 legal assistants, and we often have at least 1 undergraduate or law school intern. We have marched during uprisings, rallied in support of our clients, and worked very closely with legislators in Annapolis to uphold the constitutional rights of our various communities. Responsibilities:
· Update and maintain internal databases
· Manage attorney calendars
· Contact and interview parties, witnesses, and experts and obtain written statements when necessary
· Research and analyze legal sources such as statutes, judicial opinions, and legal codes for use by attorneys
· Review and analyze reports, discovery records, intake, and other documents produced by opposing counsel or other agencies
· Work with litigation support staff to prepare for bi-weekly new client meetings
· Prepare initial drafts of certain pleadings, motions, disclosures, notices, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and other related documents
· Electronic filing
· Coordinate and confer with court, opposing counsel, experts, and vendors
· Assist in preparation for depositions, mediations, and trials
· Assist at trial, including scheduling of witnesses and organization and control of exhibits
Requirements:
· 3+ years’ experience as a paralegal or other law firm experience
· High attention to detail
· Resourceful research and analytical skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Familiarity with Dropbox and Outlook
· Ability to use case management software (Clio)
· Proficient with MDEC and Pacer
· Client focused and adaptability to different personality types
· Proficiency with computers and strong typing skills
· Proficient in English
· Ability to ask prying questions and diffuse tense situations
Job Type:
· Full-time
Pay:
· $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year (negotiable and depending on experience)
