Overview of the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Aviation Structures Mechanic to join their F-16 Wing Overhaul Program team based in Fort Worth, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for the teardown and repair of F-16 wings, ensuring they meet high-quality standards. You will play a vital role in maintaining the operational readiness and safety of the aircraft, contributing to the overall mission by applying your expertise and skills.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and Utilize Technical Documentation: Read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications, with a preference for experience with Lockheed blueprints and specifications.
- Plan and Execute Aircraft Structural Work: Lay out work from engineering data, blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the repair, coating, or manufacture of aircraft structural components.
- Corrosion Treatment and Prevention: Identify, remove, and treat corrosion using mechanical and chemical procedures; apply preservative treatments and corrosion-protective coatings to parts as required.
- Precision Assembly Tasks: Remove/install close tolerance fasteners and drill/ream close tolerance holes; use drill bushings to transfer holes from existing structures to new structures.
- Fuel System Maintenance: Remove/install fuel lines as needed and build shop aid tooling as required.
- Sealants and Adhesives Application: Mix and apply sealants and adhesives per engineering requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft assembly or structural mechanic work.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manufacturing specs, and instructions.
- Experience in structural rework, repair, and modification, with knowledge of metal forming characteristics.
- Proficient with mechanics’ hand tools and advanced assembly theory, practice, procedures, and repair techniques.
- Skilled in using, cleaning, maintaining, and accounting for all hand and power tools.
- Familiar with inspection tools like calipers, scales, and dial indicators.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently or in a team.
- Physically capable of standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting up to 60 pounds; able to work off step stools, scissor lifts, and aircraft structures without handrails.
- Preferred experience with F-16 assembly.
