Overview:
We are seeking a Sr. Cisco Network Engineer to join our client’s team in Anchorage, AK. This position will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Cisco network configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring optimal performance of routing, switching, wireless, and security technologies. The role requires onsite presence and offers a chance to work on large-scale network deployment and maintenance projects with the possibility of multi-year contract extensions.
You will focus on supporting and engineering network configurations, deployments, and troubleshooting, with a focus on Cisco technologies. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth implementation and management of networking infrastructure, without the need to design the systems from scratch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide SME-level support for Cisco Catalyst series switches (2960, 3650, 9200, 9600)
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco Stacking and Switch Stack Virtual technology
- Manage and support switching technologies (Multi-chassis Ether-channel, Dot1Q, VTP, Spanning-Tree)
- Handle Cisco Wireless technologies, including IOS-XE and AIROS
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco ASA Firewalls (NAT, IPSEC, SSLVPN, Transparent/Routed)
- Administer and manage Cisco AnyConnect policies and profiles
- Work with Cisco FMC and NGFW
- Utilize the Cisco Security Suite, including Secure End Point, Umbrella, DUO, StealthWatch, Thousand Eyes, SecureX
- Manage Cisco ISE with MAB/Dot1x/TACACS/RADIUS/Posture
- Support routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
- Implement and manage VRF Technology
- Handle Cisco SmartNet administration, smart account management, licensing, and ELA
- Utilize Open Gear Console Server for logging and management
- Perform mid-level WAN/LAN Design and configuration management
- Oversee equipment staging, rack & stack, and acceptance testing
- Mentor field technicians and provide technical project management
Technical Requirements:
- 5+ years of CCNP-level experience in routing, switching, wireless, and security
- Proficiency in Cisco Meraki, Ubiquity and RADWIN Wireless PTP/PTMP, and Nexus 5K
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server (Active Directory Structure, File/Print Services)
- Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SNMP, NTP, Dot1x
- Familiarity with Linux OS at a basic level
- Experience in NIST 800-37, GRC, Citrix, and SSL certificate management
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in technical project management for network-focused maintenance and deployment projects
- Ability to mentor junior technicians
- Proficient understanding of the OSI model and redundancy/resilience-based architecture
