Our client is busy and growing in Rochester, NY! They are looking for a Controls Engineer to join their team. This engineer will be responsible for implementing designs and programming that meet or exceed customer expectations in the fluid process industry. Areas include system architecture, electrical design, PLC and HMI programming, and more.

Required Experience: Controls
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering is preferred
- Must have PLC programming experience using Allen-Bradley PLC5, SLC, Logix
- HMI design experience (Wonderware, FactoryTalk View; other platforms a plus)
- Knowledge of common industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet)
- Low-voltage electrical design & layout (UL 508A panel design knowledge a plus)
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Knowledge or adaptability to the Fluid Process Industry
Required Experience: Electrical & Instrumentation
- Familiar with control panel assembly/wiring, installation and electrical power distribution equipment, motor controls, relays, metering units, PLCs, VFD's, transformers, chart recorders and various other electrical equipment. (Most applications are AC/DC low and medium-voltage. Some can be 480VAC 3 Phase High Voltage applications).
- Must be able to troubleshoot electrical issues using a Fluke Meter to measure voltage current, mA, etc.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation. setup, configure and troubleshoot field equipment.
- Must have the ability to create electrical drawings using AutoCAD. This included panel layouts, pneumatic drawings, electrical schematics, etc.
- Knowledge of machinery safety circuits/ Emergency Stop control design & mechanical concepts.
- Knowledge of electrical conduit runs and wire pull design. This includes cable trays, cable glands, disconnect cables, etc.
- Assist with field start up and electrical IO checkout
Desired Experience:
- Variable Frequency Drive selection and setup (AB PowerFlex and others)
- Ability to read Process & Instrumentation drawings (P&IDs)
- UL 508A panel design knowledge
- Food/ Beverage/ Dairy process and programming knowledge
- Sanitary requirements & CIP system knowledge
- Database experience, including SQL Server
- Design and tuning of PID loops for process control
- Ability to independently manage and implement small capital projects
Other Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel throughout the US for project startups as needed, typically up to 20% maximum.
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US
