Management Consulting company providing financial services to not for profit organizations seeks an acting CFO/VP Finance for one or more of their clients. This is a fulltime permanent role with a mostly remote schedule, in office a few days per month in downtown Manhattan.
Responsibilities include:
1. Communicating with a client’s Board of Directors, CEO or executive director, and senior management on an ongoing basis to ensure the mutual understanding of goals and priorities
2. Establishing client-specific calendars of meetings and deliverables, and managing the services of accounts payable, billing, accounting, and financial reporting personnel that operate from centralized functional departments.
3. Conducting monthly meetings with the client’s leadership team to review the financial position and health of the agency, identify and resolve issues, and address priority needs.
4. Overseeing the monthly production of accurate and timely financial reports including financial statements, contract summaries, and cash flow reports.
5. Communicating findings from research and the analysis of financial results, and monitoring trends to facilitate early identification of potential issues and opportunities.
6. Preparing and presenting written reports to a client’s board of directors, key funders, and other stakeholders as needed.
7. Developing and implementing financial operations improvements, leveraging enhanced technology and communication tools to increase efficiency, improve both client and staff satisfaction, and support growth.
8. Collaborating with functional department heads to ensure compliance with the terms of government contracts, audit timelines and the specifics of client contracts.
9. Establishing annual agency budgets, incorporating revenue and expense associated with all grants and contracts, and illustrating both overall and department- or program-specific projections.
10. Recruiting, training, and managing a client delivery team, including in office and offshore staff.
11. Participating in ongoing review and revision of process workflows, ensuring that process improvements are documented and incorporated in updated training materials for new and existing staff.
12. Mentoring and serving as a resource for client-focused staff.
Qualified candidates should have a public accounting background and experience in director/executive level financial management at a nonprofit organization.
Salary 150-225k base + performance based bonus
