Job Overview:
Oversees the estimating and project management team, participates in estimating, pre-construction planning, and manages all project phases with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities:
- Champion the company’s safety culture and support all safety initiatives.
- Promote and adhere to the company’s core values, mission, code of ethics, and established policies.
- Hire, direct, and manage the estimating and project management team, including training and development.
- Provide feedback on team and departmental performance to management.
- Perform and oversee estimating to secure future projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure efficient resource utilization and maximize profitability.
- Lead pre-construction and project progress meetings.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DNR, and other safety and environmental regulations.
- Work with project managers to ensure targets and deadlines are met.
- Oversee the preparation of schedules, contracts, and procurement.
- Review and approve decisions on equipment, staffing, and operations.
- Maintain relationships and communication with subcontractors and internal departments.
- Resolve client and vendor complaints promptly, maintaining the company’s positive reputation.
- Identify cost trends and lead efforts in cost reduction and process improvement.
- Meet regularly with accounting and management to review revenue goals and strategies.
- Prepare and present reports to management.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years managing multi-million dollar heavy highway, roads and bridges projects.
- Experience managing DOT and DOD projects is highly preferred.
- 3-5 years in a supervisory role preferred.
- Proficiency in HCSS, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and MS Office.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and accountability skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems and interpret technical and financial data.
- Effective communication and presentation skills for all organizational levels.
- Ability to resolve customer and regulatory issues.
