Position: Sr. Software Develop, 2-year contract
Location: Hybrid – preference on San Diego County based candidates. Role is mainly WFH with possibly 1 – 2 onsite days every 2 weeks.
Must-have skills:
- STRONG work ethic. Hospital has a lot of urgent issues at times. Delays in fixing any issues can compromise patient safety. Candidates must be dedicated and accountable.
- Hands on – needs a very skilled programmer. Cares more about skill than years of experience.
- Very experienced in JavaScript and Python.
Technical skills include:
- Modern tech stack, AWS Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub.
- General understanding of Linux, some data science exposure. Any experience with large amounts of data – either a lot of data or large data file size.
- Backend: Python, SQL, NoSQL
- Frontend: CSS, React
Day2Day:
- Lots of projects going. (not allowed to give us exact details due to privacy)
- Updates to ongoing system
- Platform project – integrating external sources into platform
- Internal process optimization
- Cloud integrations – pipelining development: some data is in S2 bucket while some is in S3 bucket.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Sr. Software Developer will contribute to the development of an innovative solutions that support the business operations including secondary analysis pipelines, genomic sequencing instruments, and cloud platforms.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- -Developing and maintaining mission-critical software services and solutions
- -Ensuring software architecture aligns with user needs to bring high-value solutions to complex business problems
- -Comfortable working in an Agile team environment
- -Leveraging expertise in investigation and resolution of technical problems within the department
- -Maintaining awareness of industry trends and evaluate the applicability of new software technologies to the latest user needs
- -Driving innovation and contributing ideas to software road mapping
- -Contributing to software architecture designs for complex systems
- -Providing mentorship and guidance to junior members of the team
- -Effectively interacting with end users to ensure needs are understood and implemented per RCIGM strategic objectives and direction.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 4 Years of Experience
- B.S (Major or Minor) in Computer Science or related field
- 5-20 years hands-on experience in software development, application integration and devops
- Full stack web development using java script frameworks, back end application server and database services
- Hands on application integration such as API development, REST services and/or messaging systems
- Prior experience in reengineering legacy applications from scratch
- Experience with cloud services and deployment in the cloud
- Architecture and design experience
- Solid software development best practices using git, unit testing, jira and confluence
- Mentor other junior developers and application specialists
