POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for selling multiple lines of insurance coverage to middle market and above-sized accounts. While working in a team-based sales environment, the sales account executives will utilize their background and skills to build a consistent pipeline of leads, and coordinate to present and close deals. The Sales Account Executive will leverage technology and the agency’s core sales process to maximize success.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities (Essential Functions)
NEW BUSINESS
- Utilize an “Oceanus Mindset” throughout the sales process.
- Must be capable of advising Middle Market and National Accounts of appropriate lines of coverage needed.
- Actively generate new leads and accounts through directed networking and lead-generation opportunities.
- Follow up on leads and referrals immediately.
- Collaborate with business owners to collect necessary information for quoting.
- Review quotes for accuracy and coverage needs.
- Prepare quote materials for a presentation meeting.
- Mentor and train sales & administrative staff as needed.
- Communicate with the service team and take actions to provide necessary assistance.
- Work with other Sales Account Executives on lead opportunities, including attending presentation meetings as appropriate.
RENEWALS
- Review account expiration list with Account Executive/Account Manager to determine plan of action for renewal.
- Attend renewal meetings with clients as appropriate.
- Establish and maintain a positive relationship with key clients throughout the year.
- Keeps informed regarding insurance technical knowledge, market trends, agency automation, company information, and other automation operating techniques.
- Strict advocate of E&O controls.
TECHNOLOGY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be capable of learning/operating new systems.
- Ability to use Zywave, AgencyZoom, Wunderite and Applied TAM cohesively to ensure maximum efficiencies/usage.
- Ensure strategic and appropriate usage of other systems.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote open communication and high morale among all staff.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by DOO or CEO.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
10+ years insurance industry experience; 5+ years of commercial lines experience; Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Insurance related professional designation(s) preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND BEHAVIORS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Understanding of agency workflows and processes; Capable of developing and introducing new ideas to enhance work processes and have the initiative to document and carry them through; Ability to use agency automation systems and various software programs; Ability to perform in a fast paced multitasking environment; Ability to evaluate current methods, forecast future needs, develop action plans, and implement processes utilizing creative solutions to problems as they arise. Leadership abilities include the ability to clearly articulate team objectives, as well as to motivate and influence team members generating enthusiasm, flexibility and openness to change.
