Title: MRI Technologist
Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: Direct Hire (Part Time)
Guaranteed Hours - 24 Hrs.
Shift: 2x12s (Sat-Sun 7:30am-7:30p)
Pay Rate ($28 -$ 32/Hr.) + Benefits
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform MRI procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.
- Operate MRI scanners and associated equipment with high proficiency, including:
- Scanner and post-processing stations/programs
- IV contrast injectors
- O2 and suction equipment
- Patient transport and monitoring equipment
- Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient.
- Refer and question orders to the Radiologist before performing exams.
- Contact ordering providers for any discrepancies.
- Properly identify patients using two identifiers.
- Assist patients while explaining procedures briefly.
- Prepare patients for procedures and document on appropriate worksheets.
- Interview patients for complete medical history and record it on requisitions.
- Review EMRs of in-patients, ER, and outpatients for pertinent clinical history.
- Correlate other test results and laboratory data with the exam being performed.
- Assume responsibility for the exam from start to completion of dictated results.
- Prepare and administer IV contrast according to departmental protocols.
- Record contrast type and amount upon request.
- Evaluate technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed.
- Recognize abnormal anatomy and process additional images/measurements as instructed.
- Perform basic patient care functions.
- Inform nursing personnel of any changes in the patient’s condition.
- Initiate life support measures when necessary and assist in "code blue" procedures.
- Perform MRI scanning and assist physicians/PAs during invasive procedures.
- Practice proper sterile techniques in preparation of necessary supplies.
- Adhere to bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to department director/manager/supervisor.
- Maintain knowledge and skills to work safely in environments with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.
- Adhere to hospital fire and safety procedures and attend all in-service classes.
- Operate the radiology computer system for entering orders and charging procedures/supplies.
- Document contrast administration in the MAR.
- Maintain assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Keep area completely stocked and clean all work areas to promote cleanliness.
- Assist other medical personnel during exams or services in conjunction with MRI scans.
Licenses and Certification:
