Eric Scott Leathers, LLC is seeking an experienced Technical Pattern Maker.

Who are you: You are a skilled pattern maker in the soft-goods industry, with a background in sewing and construction methods. You have computer skills with an emphasis in AutoCAD, and other software drawing programs and are knowledgeable in creating prototypes from 2D drawings. You possess a willingness to experiment and have strong problem-solving skills in addition to being highly organized and an effective communicator, both verbal and written. If you have experience in leather that is a plus!
The scope of the Technical Pattern Maker is the technical coordination of design and support of new product development, ensuring compliance of the product to the directed specifications and expectations of quality through skilled pattern making.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Working independently on designated styles by creating mock-up samples and prototypes of new products in a 3D prototype from 2D sketches
- Analyzing drawing changes by using assembly representations for fit, function, interference and efficiency of design
- Identifying and recommending alternatives to resolve issues and support the product team to meet the design and engineering approval date as per the product timelines
- Developing patterns and assembly instructions and processes for new products
- Modifying and revising designs to reduce production problems and work with manufacturing to establish and document best practices
- Reviewing and analyzing specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed
- Suggesting construction methods and product improvements
- Developing preliminary BOMs and routings for initial samples and verifying final BOM and routing
- Organizing and maintaining all technical design files for all styles produced
- Operating all sample/production equipment
- Managing appropriate inventory of materials used in development
- Communicating progress of projects with development/engineering team
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in fashion design or related field or equivalent experience
- Experience in creating prototypes and samples (experience in leather/durable soft goods is a plus)
- Extensive experience with various sewing equipment
- Technical sewing experience with heavy duty materials and functional products
- Computer skills: AutoCAD, Solidworks, Microsoft Office
- Oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Effective analytical, problem-solving skills, and high attention to details
