Core Skills and Competencies:
Safety leader.
Trades certification is a benefit but not mandatory.
Minimally requires working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and reliability fundamentals.
Trades training is definable by mill but planner should be exposed to all on-site vendor seminars like lubrication, fasteners, hydraulics, PLC, controls, etc.
Could also include Noria MLT1, Vibration Level 1, etc. but this is individual and mill-specific.
Proficient on CMMS, Oracle and MS Word / Excel.
Self-starter with high standards.
Ability to work within a team environment to further plant goals.
Excellent communication skills.
Critical to the Success of the Planner
Planning personnel in the mill should work side-by-side with the mechanical, electrical trades and reliability trades.
Work with the trades group as they develop and optimize PMs, PdM, CMs, etc.; their buy-in will make or break this position
Firing out paperwork from a distant office will not work well
Be a doer not a delegator
