The contractor shall provide two physicians who possess the necessary skills, abilities, and credentials to perform the following services -Possess typing and keyboarding skills and perform electronic documentation with accuracy. Must be able to navigate through numerous aspects of the computer based program and self-enter information into the electronic medical record following an approximate 1-2 week training period. USMCFP Springfield uses an electronic medical record to perform daily patient care; the contractor will make themselves familiar with the computer security requirements and will abide by all established rules and regulations. The contractor must have basic typing and computer skills, with experience in the use of an electronic medical record.-Perform complete physical examinations as needed and collects comprehensive medical and social history to include a review of all body systems, performs physical assessments in correlation with historical findings, records preliminary objective findings;-Perform outpatient and/or inpatient general medical examinations and treatment to male inmates;-Perform chronic care clinic evaluations;-Perform follow-up of inmates who return from an inpatient stay at our area hospital;-Make determinations for when services of a specialist are required to treat unusual cases;-Make necessary arrangements for the admission for an inpatient stay at our area hospital.The contractor shall analyze the clinical records of new inmates with a chronic care diagnosis within 14 days of their arrival; determ- ine preliminary diagnosis, afford professional care to patients confined, obtain necessary consultation for cases presenting difficulty in diagnosis or treatment, and authorize admission of patients to the contracted hospital for emergency medical care and surgery. The contractor shall ensure appropriate medical records are maintained and updated. The contractor shall communicate effectively with inmates with multiple health problems and a variety of cultural, sexual orientation, regional, racial, religious and ethnic backgrounds.All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of medicine, and compli- ance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with theJoint Commission and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. Due to Joint Commission regulations, as well as BOP Health Services policies, history and evaluations shall be completed as scheduled. Detailed medical record documentation must be maintained. Each patient encounter will be documented using the electronic medical record.The contractor will advise the Clinical Director and the HSU staff on conditions pertaining to medical and/or surgical problems. Fol- low up on surgical cases is also required, including instructions for rehabilitation (physical therapy).
