Product Development Assistant

We are on the lookout for a dynamic Product Development Assistant to join our growing team on-site in Hicksville, NY! This position is a fantastic opportunity for a recent college graduate with product development internship experience to dive into the world of confectionery, souvenir, and branded products. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the product development process to ensure we not only meet but exceed our customers' expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of exciting new products across multiple lines of business.
- Support requests from internal stakeholders and sales teams to fulfill private label and branded confectionery programs.
- Utilize insights to inspire innovative product and packaging ideas.
- Coordinate new product development, including market research, competitive analysis, timeline development, sourcing, costing, and pricing recommendations.
- Help with product costing breakdowns and bill of materials development, assessing raw materials, components, labor, and other costs to determine pricing.
- Manage and fulfill sample requests for evaluations, customer meetings, and trade shows.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure all new products and packaging meet vendor documentation approval.
- Communicate with domestic and international third-party vendors to source new products and packaging, obtaining current costs, samples, and specifications to build final costing and business recommendations.
- Work alongside Marketing and Creative teams to develop communication materials supporting new product launches.
- Collaborate with Product Development team members to support department initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant internship experience preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in Product Development or Product Management within a manufacturing or CPG organization.
- Process-oriented with the ability to execute and introduce systemic processes.
- A dynamic multi-tasker who can prioritize and balance multiple initiatives.
- Organized and detail-focused with a strong problem-solving ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with sales cycles and experience supporting sales staff and customers.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous experience with costing or P&Ls is a plus.
