Global Business Development Manager
A global supplier of advanced test cell, instrumentation, and test equipment; energy technology; and vehicle drive systems is seeking a Global Business Development Manager to join their team in Michigan.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and nurture relationships with key customers, serving as the primary point of contact.
- Drive technical discussions with customers, clearly articulating product options and solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure customer expectations and requirements are met.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities through proactive engagement (hunting) and relationship management (farming).
- Establish new customer relationships and expand existing ones.
- Coordinate and generate multiple proposals simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Lead proposal estimating activities.
- Represent the customer’s voice within internal teams to align offerings with customer needs.
- Understand customer organizations and effectively communicate insights to internal teams.
- Generate and deliver high-quality presentations to showcase product offerings and integration capabilities.
- Facilitate and lead customer negotiations (including pricing, terms & conditions, and agreements).
- Prepare project concepts and create accurate cost estimates.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with marketing to align messaging and promote product offerings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent).
- MBA, minor, or equivalent experience in business development is a plus.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, with a strong focus on business development.
- Background in powertrain, electronics/electrical systems, or vehicle development.
- Experience with a broad range of testing solutions for the automotive, heavy-duty, off-highway, or aerospace industries is preferred.
- Proven track record in sales and business development within related industries.
- Familiarity with advanced software products, including automation, simulation, and data acquisition.
- Strong ability to generate and deliver high-quality presentations and proposals.
- Experience in cost estimating and proposal generation is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to lead, collaborate, and work effectively in teams.
