SUMMARY
We are seeking a Project Engineer for a chemical manufacturing plant in the Freeport, Texas area. In this partially remote role, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact between the project and business unit partners, complete assigned projects safely, on schedule and within budget, while engineering standards and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieving project objectives which include cost, schedule and functionality for project investments up to approximately $5-10 million.
- Providing leadership to the project team including Engineering, Manufacturing, EH&S, Infrastructure, Logistics, Procurement, and Construction.
- Championing the scope development process to ensure completeness of basic engineering, while seeking opportunities to add through the application of Value Based Engineering.
- Overseeing the Change Management process and maintaining focus on safety in the development of project concepts and during execution.
- Working with the Project Team to develop execution and contracting strategies to effectively meet objectives.
- Having a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive workplace as you ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and technical standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably in chemical engineering with 3-5 years of experience as a project engineer.
- Plant experience is required in either the chemical, refinery, or utility industry (not oil fields).
- Previous project work in utilities, logistics, power distribution, laboratories, or infrastructure required.
- Previous experience working on small to medium sized projects ($1M to $20M range, not seeking larger project experience $1B+)
- Familiarity with SAP systems is preferred.
- This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
