Summary of Responsibilities: This position is responsible for managing product samples, their distribution to Bragg Team for evaluation, and shipping to third party laboratories. This is a hands-on position with routine product tastings, packaging and shipping samples, and unloading products into our office space on a regular basis. This position is also responsible for some physical laboratory testing of Bragg products. This position reports to QA Associate Director and will be based in Santa Barbara.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Helps prepare samples, coordinates sample shipments, and compiles evaluation feedback.
- Helps review raw material, products, and packaging for current or new projects as directed by QA senior staff.
- Participates in routine product tastings and conducts in-house testing (e.g. brix, pH, acidity) under the guidance of QA senior staff.
- Documents work and maintains laboratory records.
- Works in accordance with current procedures, follows Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), and maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
- Performs laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration tasks and stocks the laboratory with supplies as directed by QA senior staff.
- Responsible for requesting samples to be sent to third party labs, inputting results into database, and reporting out of specification data to QA Associate Director.
- Aids in out of specification product investigation as directed by QA senior staff.
- Supports Bragg Admin activities as necessary and directed by QA senior staff.
- Aids QA Administrative Assistant with Product Specifications, customer portals, and helps update team budget.
- Contributes to a cohesive team environment.
- Able to work during off-shift to accommodate off-site product verification.
- Able to work independently on site, with remote support from QA senior staff.
- Plans for assigned workload daily and efficiently schedules multiple assignments.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
College degree or equivalent work experience in the food industry, manufacturing industry, or laboratory setting. Ability to create and maintain Excel files, Word docs, etc. Familiarity working with cloud systems (Sharepoint, Dropbox, etc.) is desired.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to work well in teams, good organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. Ability to work independently and to be a self-starter.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. (Notification required due to the Americans with Disabilities Act).
