Responsibilities
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Responsible for auditing contractor and consultant payment requests for construction, equipment, and construction-related service contracts.
- Ensure the contractor or consultant has fulfilled its contractual obligations, and the client has received appropriate value for the payment requested.
- Examine source documents, including daily construction reports, invoices, paid bills, time sheets, payroll records, negotiated change orders, and client contract documents, forms, and records.
- Perform field visits to verify requested payment amounts and evaluate the quality and progress of the work in question.
Audits shall include but not be limited to the Engineering Auditor verifying that:
- Work has progressed sufficiently to warrant the payment requested.
- Billed prices, quantities, and calculations are correct.
- Material quality and certifications comply with specifications.
- Work conforms to the plans and specifications/ applicable standards.
- Costs are appropriate based on a sampling of items listed on the contractor's requisition.
- All required filings, permits, licenses, etc., that are required for payment are in place.
- Any variances, including variances in the original contract amount, changes in bid quantities, and variances in change order work, are accurate and justifiable; and that the change has been properly authorized.
- The contractor has complied with applicable prevailing wage requirements.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience:
- 5 years of Experience working on large construction projects especially environmental abatements such as asbestos and lead.
- Must ensure proper execution and delivery of local, state and federal environmental reviews and associated technical reports under the general supervision of the Engineering Auditor Department.
- Ability to be on site 5 days a week.
