Job Title: Technical Clinical Laboratory Supervisor
Job Summary: The Technical Clinical Laboratory Supervisor oversees the clinical laboratory activities, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning. Responsibilities include maintaining regulatory compliance, training staff, preparing technical procedures, and performing diagnostic procedures on blood and other body fluids from patients of all age groups. This position functions as a technical supervisor and helps develop, promote, and execute programs to enhance patient experience and employee engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and perform advanced or specialized laboratory tests and techniques.
- Re-evaluate methodology, recommend changes, and assist in test interpretation.
- Determine the necessity for further testing or repeating tests.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality control standards.
- Provide technical supervision and consultation as needed.
- Select appropriate test methodologies and verify test procedures.
- Participate in proficiency testing programs and quality control initiatives.
- Monitor work quality, resolve technical problems, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Identify training needs and evaluate the competency of testing personnel.
- Maintain records for federal, state, and license accreditation and monitor adherence to safety regulations.
- Assist in budget planning, cost analysis, and procurement of laboratory equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to enhance patient and employee satisfaction.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Knowledge/Experience: Minimum 2 years of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing. Qualify as testing personnel under CLIA Sec. 493.1489(b)(2).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a Life Science or equivalent field.
- License/Certification: Current ASCP licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), Cytotechnologist (CT), Histotechnologist (HTL), or Pathology Assistant (PA) as applicable.

- Current ASCP licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required for Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Hematology, Molecular Lab Technical Clinical Laboratory Supervisors; or
- Current ASCP licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Laboratory Specialist (CLSp) required for Main and North Lab Technical Clinical Laboratory Supervisors; or
- Current ASCP licensure as a Cytotechnologist (CT) or certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or licensure as a Pathology Assistant (PA) required for Pathology Technical Clinical Laboratory Supervisors.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a Life Science or equivalent field required.
