Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Summary:
CrimsonXT have partnered with an exciting start up in the battery manufacturing space in search of a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As a key player of the leadership team, the CFO will be instrumental in shaping the company's financial strategy and driving sustainable growth. This role requires a hands-on leader to oversee all financial functions, including fundraising, accounting, financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy and long-term business plan, ensuring alignment with the company's mission and vision.
- Oversee all financial activities, including accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis, to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO and executive team to guide decision-making and fuel business expansion.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and accounting standards.
- Manage the company’s cash flow, including invoicing, payments, and financial transactions.
- Design and implement financial and operational controls to manage risk and support growth.
- Prepare annual financial statements and lead the company through its first external audit.
- Manage relationships with key external stakeholders, such as investors, banks, auditors, and regulators.
- Lead financial due diligence efforts for potential acquisitions or strategic partnerships.
- Support fundraising activities, including equity and debt financing, and maintain strong relationships with investors and financiers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency and optimize financial performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in financial leadership roles, including experience as CFO, Controller, or VP of Finance.
- Industry experience in energy, battery technology, or related manufacturing sectors is strongly preferred.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Proven experience in investor relations and working with financial institutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and build strong relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial processes such as planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Solid understanding of financial regulations, laws, and industry accounting principles.
- Experience with fundraising and capital management in a startup environment is a plus.
- Must be based in/or open to relocation to Chicago
