Open Systems Technologies is looking for a Payroll Supervisor to join our team in New York, NY.
Compensation: Up to $80,000
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily payroll operations and process weekly and bi-weekly (US & Canada) payrolls. Complete and ensure that the preparation and distribution of payroll, meets established schedules.
- Review and reconcile all payroll before processing, Maintain checks and balances to reconcile the Payroll team’s work before processing.
- Produce, balance and file 1099s and W2s, Liaise with HR/Benefits teams on the administration and maintenance of 401K and benefits plans.
- Review calculation of wages, overtime, comp time and deductions to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax, regulations, wage, and hour laws to ensure the application is accurate within the Paycom payroll system.
- Review and approve bi-weekly payroll journal entries including the distribution of payroll costs by department to facilitate proper payroll expense reporting by office location.
- Review employee data changes such as new hires, employee status changes and additional earnings within the payroll system as well as employee database.
- Review employee time and attendance records to accurately process payroll and identify any issues with submitted time.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for management.
- Oversee set up, control, and maintain employee garnishments, levies, and wage assignments.
- Manage the coordination of 401(K) contribution data and work with Vanguard to validate and approve bi-weekly funding amounts.
- Manage with payroll reports for the preparation of various tax returns, and 401k compliance audits.
- Assist with review and revisions to policies and procedures for the payroll function.
- Oversee federal and state tax filings and withholdings and any reporting and payments not administered by Paycom.
- Handle complex inquiries regarding employee payroll matters and perform research on any state level benefits impacting the payroll.
- Lead, motivate and manage staff in the production of the highest quality of work while ensuring cost effective workflow.
- Perform other special projects and duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Experience or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting, preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in payroll.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processing, tax principles, wage, and hour laws by State.
- Ability to develop and improve process and procedures.
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Excel, knowledge of Paycom, Netsuite and Job Diva/Bullhorn, is a plus.
