Carolina PRG is partnering with a large publicly traded organization to find a Senior State & Local Tax Associate.
*This role is 6x in office per month*
Responsibilities:
Tax Planning and Strategy:
- Develop tax strategies to optimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with tax laws.
- Advise on the tax implications of business decisions.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of federal, state, and local tax returns (income, sales, use, excise, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
Tax Research:
- Conduct research on current tax regulations, updates, and court cases affecting tax positions.
- Analyze changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization.
Tax Provision:
- Prepare and review tax provisions for financial statements in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Ensure accurate reporting of deferred taxes and effective tax rate calculations.
Audit Support:
- Manage and support tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
- Provide documentation, explanations, and resolution strategies for any audit findings.
Tax Reporting:
- Prepare tax reports for internal stakeholders and management, summarizing liabilities, risks, and tax savings opportunities.
- Assist with quarterly and annual financial tax reporting.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement improvements in tax processes and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Leverage tax technology and automation to streamline tax workflows.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with finance, accounting, and legal teams to ensure cohesive financial and tax strategies.
- Liaise with external tax consultants and advisors as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance
- 2+ years of prior public accounting experience
- Ability to juggle concurrent projects and smoothly move from project to project with little advance notice
- Proficiency with excel or other data management or data mining software tools
