JOB DESCRIPTION
ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for all phases of the assigned estimate. This position oversees the request for bid (R.F.Q.) from bid document review including but not limited to schedules and specifications. This position requires day-to-day management of all facets of the estimate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Attends all job coordination meetings and is the liaison with other contractors to assure exchange of information
Works with the customer and owner to understand the project, scope, and timeline, while building strong relationships for continued customer service
Quantifies bid documents using Bluebeam
Sends out for pricing, all materials and subcontractors required for the electrical installation of the project being quoted
Reviews the project/owner specifications
Communicates with SE accounting and estimating support to ensure proper bid rates are being utilized during the bid process
Communicates with SE accounting the need for project specific bonding, insurances, and financing
Drafts proposal letters for review with senior management
Advises Senior Management of any significant issues such as manpower, costs, scheduling and the like that will place the project at risk
Reprices the project and makes continued updates to the proposal as changes occur throughout the life cycle of the bid
Submits, tracks and quotes RFI’s and responses
Completes other duties and tasks assigned as deemed appropriate by management
Completion of electrical apprenticeship or bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management or related field required
Electrical Masters License preferred
Minimum of 5 years experience working in the construction/electrical field required
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in the field directing a team
Strong computer skills (e.g., Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook,) required particularly Excel
Ability to work cohesively with external and internal parties
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills: ability to manage multiple pricing efforts at once and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and follow projects to completion
Ability to think “out of the box” for continuous process improvement
Strong problem-solving skills required
Strong, positive customer service approach to employees, management, contractors, and customers
Must be able to physically work on a jobsite in a construction environment
Must be able to travel to various jobsites as the project demands
