POSITION SUMMARY
The Test Engineer will be responsible for developing standard test processes as well as performing them. This includes testing of product that failed in service, new products being developed, and other components and tooling from production and engineering. They will be responsible for reporting out analysis and findings in a clear, concise, organized, and repeatable presentation. During testing, they will assess the reliability of processes and challenge investigation results to identify the proper root cause. Improved product quality and reduced after-sales support costs are key benefits this role delivers. The technician must also be capable of developing and maintaining processes for data collection and storage.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish, Control, and Improve testing processes for the Product Analysis Lab
- Perform failure analysis tests and generate reports from the findings
- Be the technical expert on these product failures and their causes
- Conduct and document product testing (i.e. burst and deformation testing, cycle tests, dimensional measurements.)
- Own and control product data and test records for the organization
- Perform raw material testing as needed by other departments
- Perform finished goods testing as needed by other departments
- Lead maintenance and care of the lab area and equipment
- Make recommendations to management for improved processes and equipment based on findings from testing
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical degree preferred (BSME or Mechanical Engineer Technology)
- OR - High school diploma with equivalent work experience
- Experience in metal failure analysis and metallurgy preferred
- Strong Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read precision measuring devices
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- Personal Computing skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
- Quick learner, able to understand research and gather information
- Good communication skills
- Able to explain complex technology to non-technical colleagues
- Excellent analytical skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to stand up to six hours per day
- 20/20 vision or corrected to 20/20
- Good Hearing and finger dexterity
- Must be able to bend, squat, twist and kneel
- Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week
