Lead AI Researcher
Location: Seattle (Hybrid)
Salary: up to $300k DOE + Equity & Benefits
A Seattle-based AI startup with significant funding are working to enable true face-to-face communication with AI, via real-time, multi-modal conversation that feels uniquely human, fluid, and natural.
As an AI Researcher (Multimodal), you will be at the heart of R&D efforts, focusing on multimodal AI technologies. You will lead exploratory research in areas such as cross-modal learning, Text-to-Speech, Speech-to-Text, and generative models.

Responsibilities
- Lead critical research on multi-modal input and output from LLMs, including voice and image encoders and decoders, for text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and speech-to-animation.
- Lead the design and implementation of our multi-modal models whilst training and improving voice and vision models.
- Build a world-class team for solving the key problems around modeling human conversations and voice/vision.
- Evaluate and enhance the data flywheel process.
- Design strategies to increase the efficiency, accuracy, and overall quality of models.
- Create tools for assessing and monitoring model quality and performance.
Skills / Experience
- An incredibly strong AI Researcher / Expert with a track record of contributions to AI products and systems.
- Experience with Large Language Models or other generative AI models.
- Experience with speech or vision models.
- Strong experience in Python and, ideally, PyTorch.
Good to haves..
- Experience with building teams and directing the work of other researchers and engineers.
