ACP Technologies is seeking a highly skilled CTO with a strong background in the chemical and/or petroleum industries. The CTO will be replacing the CEO’s secondary role as “Acting CTO” and assuming technology leadership of a small, innovative company that is developing, patenting and commercializing new technology to convert petroleum streams into carbon fiber, graphite for Li ion batteries, high-temperature carbon-carbon composites and other applications. They will be responsible for all technology development within the company as well as overseeing interactions with the company’s technology development partners. We are looking for someone who is an expert in technology development with broad management skills. Company is headquartered in St. Clair Shores, MI and has a lab near Ashland, KY. Candidates should be able to commute to MI headquarters or KY lab or work virtually in the US Eastern or Central time zones. Candidates should be able to travel up to 35% of the time.
CTO Responsibilities:
- Leading the company in how technology will be developed, patented and commercialized by the company.
- Ensuring that technology resources meet the company's short and long-term needs.
- Outline the goals for research and development.
- Planning the development and deployment of all technology services.
- Acting as a mentor to technical team members.
- Developing strategies for advancing technology partnerships, technology platforms, and other external technology relationships.
- Maintaining a customer-focused outlook and aiding in the delivery of projects.
- Managing research and development budgets and time frames.
- Staying on top of technology trends and developments in related areas.
- Ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards.
CTO Requirements:
- PhD or MS in chemical engineering, petroleum engineering or a related field.
- At least 25 years total work experience with 20 years in technical roles and 10 years in managerial positions.
- Broad experience in chemical and/or petroleum industries.
- Has experience developing new technologies, preparing patent applications and working with commercial facilities.
- Creative individual with strong management skills.
- Is inventor or co-inventor in chemical engineering related patents
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Live in the US Eastern or Central Time Zones.
- Business travel up to 25 - 35%.
