Day-to-day Responsibilities:
• Serving as Controls Engineering lead
• Collaborating with Project Managers to ensure the timely success of every system
• Collaborating internally to ensure timely competition of projects
• Working with installation team in the field to successful startup new systems
• Working with Service Manager to coordinate controls support in the field
• Write PLC/HMI programs from templates and scratch to Matrix and customer specs/standards
• Configure network devices using protocols such as DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet IP, and more
• Perform startup, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware
• Interfacing and integrating Matrix controls with the controls of manufacturer’s equipment, cameras, and FANUC robots
This individual will spend time out on the shop floor. You will be expected to be able to get hands on with the machines that they are building. This means adjusting a sensor or brackets with small hand tools. You will contribute to design concepts and reviewing designs made by EEs, but the EEs take care of all electrical design work.
Must have:
- Degree needed
- 5 years of experience in Controls Engineering
- Ability to write code from based on templates and from scratch
- Ability to program HMIs and PLCs.
- Experience with Allen Bradley.
- Strong schematic reading skills.
- Experience leading projects
- Leading projects from start to finish.
- Mechanical aptitude
- Experience using hand tool to tinker with machinery out on the shop floor.
Strongly Preferred:
- Experience programming Servos or VFDs, for motion applications
- Experience programming safety logic, for safety PLCs
- Experience with Ethernet IP (industrial protocol)
- Customer facing experience
Nice to have:
- Experience interfacing with robots
- Bridging the gap between PLCs and robotics
- Experience working with cameras in automated systems
- Keyence or Cognex are the two manufacturers of vision components that Matrix uses the most.
