Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Automation and Controls Engineer is two-fold. First, to be a great team member who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. The second is to ensure the success of the team by SAFELY performing programming and upgrade tasks on steel mill equipment and systems, as well as proposing and implementing innovative solutions to challenges in the steel making process and business. Safety is the most important part of all jobs ; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, this customer will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Fundamental control theory knowledge
• 2+ years’ experience in industrial controls role or similar
• Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Industrial process automation networking experience (i.e., Ethernet IP, Profinet, Profibus, etc.)
• Experience with Siemens S7 controllers and programming packages
• 2-year or 4-year degree in industrial controls or related field
